Gabkwi Alain Bongsum hails from Bui Division of the North West Region. His new home is Bangem where he invests time and energy on vegetable gardening. Gabkwi recounted that he came to Bangem eight months ago through a friend and later discovered the rich soil and vegetation of the town which lured him into gardening. “I specialize in the cultivation of vegetables and spices like parsley, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, garlic, and carrot, amongst others.” He revealed. The Centre for Agroecological Promotion, CAEP, Tombel, together with partners is mobilizing to train farmers on reviving traditional agricultural practices that enhance food sovereignty and security. The three day workshop has been scheduled from the 8th to the 10th of February 2024 in Tombel, organized by CAEP. Besides, the workshop also aimed at developing strategies of scaling up agroecology and the protection of biodiversity. The Mayor of Tombel Council, Ngassa Rose, has presented heavy duty equipment of the council to the public. The ceremony took place on the 27th of January 2024 at the esplanade of the Tombel Council. The various equipment include; a tipper, a front end loader, a bulldozer, motorcycles and a generator.
