The Divisional Delegation of Trade, Kupe Muanenguba, has organized promotional sales of basic commodities in Bangem and Tombel to assist the population during the festive period.
In Bangem, the promotional sales were organized on the 17th, 19th and 24th of December 2024 at Street Two and Bangem Market Respectively, in partnership with Pa Ngome, owner of the business centers.
Meanwhile in Tombel, the promotional sales were organized in partnership with Ets Belinda at Paul Biya’s Avenue and Mr. Dieudonne at Nyasoso park.
At the various promotional centers, The Ultimate discovered that a litre of vegetable oil (Mayor) was sold at FCFA 1450 instead of FCFA 1600, 25kg of rice was sold at FCFA 15.000 instead of FCFA 16.000, a packet of sugar was sold at FCFA 850 instead of FCFA 1000, amongst many commodities.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the Divisional Delegate, Promise Chung Forkom said the main objective of the promotional sales was to fight high cost of living and ease the burden of the festive period on the population of Kupe Muanenguba.
He said from their supervision, basic commodities were sold at prices cheaper than the current prevailing prices in the market.
According to the delegate, the objective of the promotional sales was achieved as people took advantage and stocked their homes for a successful celebration of Christmas and New Year.
Speaking at the Promotional Center in Bangem, Ntube Carol of Street Three thanked the delegation of Trade for the great initiative. “I took advantage to buy four bags of rice and two cartons of vegetable oil. My children ate to rice and stew with ease. God bless the delegate for helping us”. She stated.
Sharon Munge of Tombel was happy that in the midst of high cost of living, she could buy rice, sugar and flour at affordable prices. She prayed that prices of these commodities should be reduced to help the population even after the festive period.
