The first malaria vaccine will be available in Cameroon in January 2024. According to the Expanded Immunization Program (ENP), the country is preparing to receive 249,133 doses of the first malaria vaccine, RTS,S. For the first phase, only children aged 6 to 24 months will be affected, announced Dr. Njoh Ateke Andreas, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the ENP. To obtain the first doses of vaccine, the government filed an application with GAVI, the vaccine alliance. The Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE, begins in less than three weeks, but out-station allowances of last year’s Ordinary Level examiners are yet to be paid. The GCE Board Registrar, Dominic Akuh Dang, has continued to ignore complaints by the disgruntled markers and examiners about non-payment of their allowances nearly one year since they marked the exam. “The GCE board is still to pay the out-station allowance for Ordinary Level examiners after 10 months since we marked,” a GCE 2022 marker complained.
