Members of the Kupe Muanenguba Chiefs Conference, KMCC have Honoured President Paul Biya with traditional gifts, for ordering the construction of the ongoing 53 kms Bangem-Nguti road.

The gifts which include a talking drum, a traditional broom, a calabash, and a bag, were presented to President Biya, through Minister, Assistant Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Elung Paul Che on May 3, 2025 in Bangem, on the occasion of the Grand Thank You Meeting to President Biya for the Bangem-Nguti road.

While presenting the gifts, the Secretary General of KMCC, HRM Chief Mbong Walters Mesumbe of Kack Muasundem, Tombel Sub Division, on behalf of his peers said, the talking drum is an instrument for the Head of State to rally all Cameroonians and continue preaching peace in conflict-hit regions.

Chief Mesumbe said, the traditional broom, ‘muen ngwe’ is a symbol of peace. He urged President Biya to use the broom and continue to foster his peace agenda in the North West, South West and Far North Regions of Cameroon.

Also, the third item was the calabash, called ‘pid’ in Bakossi. The SG said President Biya should always use the calabash to drink water and palm wine for refreshing in his nation building mission.

The last item on the list was the Bakossi traditional bag, ‘nguem’,’ housing the calabash and the broom. Chief Mesumbe said the traditional bag in their culture is considered as a safe. He said President Biya should keep important state files and documents in it. He said amongst the important files to be saved in the bag is that of the Bangem-Nguti road, so that the project will not be thwarted in any way.
Rally Behind CPDM
Addressing the mammoth crowd at Paul Biya’s Stadium, Bangem, Minister Elung described the Bangem-Nguti road as the most critical development project the division has ever had since its creation in 1992.

He said the road is more than an infrastructure as it is a vital lifeline that connects their people to new opportunities, broader horizon, and brighter future.

According to the Deputy Secretary General, the context and exceptional manner under which President Biya awarded the huge project to the division, despite multiple internal challenges and global economic breakdown, testifies of President Biya’s deep sense of duty to graciously hear the earnest cries of Kupe Muanenguba people.

“The road is the change we long awaited. It is the bridge between where we were and where we are going.” The Minister added, and assured that upon completion, the road will interconnect the entire division.

Elung further described the road project as a reward for loyalty by President Biya to the people of Kupe Muanenguba, which must be demonstrated through consistent action.

“Let us show President Biya that we remain committed in our unwavering support, and it is just proper that we stand resolute behind him, so that we continue to reap more for our division.” He added.

The Minister told all sons and daughters of the division to register massively and vote for the CPDM party in the upcoming Presidential election.

Enter Mayor, CPDM Officials
Earlier in his welcome address, the Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher said the Bangem-Nguti road will boost economic development in the division.

The mayor pleaded with President Biya to consider the construction of the Bangem-Tombel Road and further disenclave other parts of the division.

Meanwhile, the Section Presidents of CPDM Kupe Muanenguba I, Bangem, Mesumbe Ambrose, WCPDM Kupe Muanenguba III, Tombel, Dr. Ngome Felicia Munge, and YCPDM Kupe Muanenguba II, Nguti, Dr. Esong Simon, thanked the president for creating Kupe Muanenguba in 1992 and for the ground breaking projects in the division.

On behalf of their militants and sympathizers, the presidents in a motion of support, pleaded with President Biya to be their candidate in the upcoming Presidential election in October 2025, promising him a landslide victory for the division.

The President of Kupe Muanenguba Chiefs Conference, who doubles as Paramount Ruler of Bangem, HRM Chief Nnane Nnok Emmanuel said Kupe Muanenguba is in record as the living administrative unit that appears 100 percent for total peace in the socio-political crisis in the North West and South Regions of Cameroon.

Describing the Bangem-Nguti road as a golden egg that will boost economic activities in the division, Chief Nnane warned that any youth who dares to thwart the ongoing construction works of the Bangem-Nguti road will face the wrath of the ancestors.

The president disclosed that the monarchs of Kupe Muanenguba have poured their blessings on him for another mandate, he pleaded with the Head of State to creat the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, under the University of Buea, in Bangem.

Traditional dances showcasing the rich culture of Kupe Muanenguba, choral singing, animation from Kupe Muanenguba musicians spiced the day.

Also present at the event was the parliamentarians of Kupe Muanenguba, the Board Chairman of CDC, Hope Sona Ebai, the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William, the Commander of the Second Gendamarie Region, General Brigade Ekungwese Division, Divisional Officers and Mayors of Kupe Muanenguba, internal and external elite, amongst others.
