Muslims in Bangem Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region, have ended 30 days fasting and prayers of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr festivities within the town.

Eid al-Fitr was celebrated on March 31, 2025 at Government Practicing School Field Bangem, beginning with prayers coordinated by the Imam of Melong, Moungo Division, Ousmanou Youssoufou.
Speaking to The Ultimate at the end of the prayer session, the Imam said after coming to the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting, they have come to celebrate.

He said as they celebrate Eid, they gathered for a special prayer known as Salat al-Eid in Bangem.
Imam Ousmanou called on Muslim in Bangems to shun gossip and hatred and to live in harmony with one another. He said they must live in peace and unity, loving their neighbours and respect administrative authorities in the division.

The Divisional Officer of Bangem Sub Division, Diarou Saly a Muslim said the Eid al-Fitr celebration was a time for Muslims to come together and reflect on their blessings and show gratitude to one another.
The Head of Muslim Community in Bangem, Yaya Babadem thanked all friends and neighbors who came to celebrate and share with them.
While thanking the Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher for donating a land to construct their mosque, Babadem appealed to his followers and elite to support them for the construction of their church edifice.

Also speaking to The Ultimate, Mohamadou Iliassou thanked God for a successful period of prayers and fasting and he called on all Muslims especially the young people to be united and pray for everlasting peace to reign in our country.

Mariam Awudu thanked God for a successful celebration and wished everyone peace, happiness and prosperity.
Some of the activities that marked the Muslim feast in Bangem include; cleaning of homes, wearing of new clothes, preparation of traditional sweets and dishes, exchange of gifts, amongst others.
Also present at the Eid al-Fitr was the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William.
