The President of Bangem Women’s Empowerment Forum, Abwe Janet has lamented over the limited flow of water in Bangem and the frequent power outrages by ENEO. She said this has serious consequences on households, especially women, who toil daily to keep the family intact.

The president was speaking on March 8, 2025 on the occasion of the celebration of the 40th Intennational Women’s Day in Bangem, Kupe Muanenguba Division at Paul Biya’s Stadium, under the theme, “For all Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.”

Abwe pleaded with the Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher to do all in his capacity to speed up with the ongoing Bangem rehabilitation water project until everyhome has potable water because water is life.

Besides, the President appealed to the Mayor and administration of Bangem Sub Division to facilitate land ownership by women, as this will contribute enormously to fight poverty.

Meanwhile, the Second Deputy Mayor of Bangem Council Nkwelle Evelyn Mesode in her welcome speech, called on women to celebrate their achievements, support and uplift each other. “You all are celebrating your rights, equality and empowerment” she stated and called on men to assist women grow for a sustainable tomorrow.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, the Divisional Delegate of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Kupe Muanenguba, Ngwene Cecilia Mbolle encouraged women of the division to celebrate their strength and resilience daily and be united for a common front.

She said though some of the challenges women face include violence and harasement amongst others, they should be motivated by their collective strength and resilience.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William called on women to take responsibility and be at the top.

He assured women that the Mayor is working on water shortages in Bangem and very soon, potable water shall be at the doorsteps of every home.
Mungambo also urged women to make good use of the Women’s Empowerment and the Family Center Bangem to acquire diverse skillls to transform their homes.
Other activities that culminated the day include; award of prizes, choral singing, ballet dancing, traditional dancing and presentations, fashion parade, visit to exhibition stands and animation.
Also present was the Director of Women’s Empowerment and Family Center, Bangem, Mwene Agnes Senge, Sub Delegate, MINPROFF, Bangem, Epumangando Synthia Epede Bih, amongst others.
