Government Teachers Training College, GTTC Bangem has graduated its 27th batch of privately sponsored Grade One Teachers, baptized, “the Batch of Perseverance and Creativity into the Teaching Profession”.
The prize award and graduation ceremony took place on January 24, 2025 at the touristic GTTC Bangem campus.
In his welcome address, the Principal of the institution, Ajime Christopher Apash congratulated the 60 graduands for their remarkable 100 % (percent) score at the Teacher Grade One Certificate Examination, CAPIEMP in the 2024 session.
He said the results speaks of the quality of attainment these laureates had during their training that spanned through the phases of continuous assessment, classroom teaching, orals and written phases of the examination.
Apash told the laureates that technology remains a tool but the creative and innovative ways can be used to modernize the teaching and learning process. He told them to embrace opportunities and challenges that go with modernization.
“Dear graduates, today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your pursuits. You have the power to shape young minds and inspire future leaders. Strive to utilize the potentials you have acquired”. Principal Apash advised.
On behalf of the graduating students, Etuge Prospers Aboh Nzams described GTTC Bangem as a home of knowledge, a home of love and a home of positive transformation.
He said GTTC is not the final bus stop as many people think, but a master key to many doors in the society and beyond.
Etuge lamented that during their studies, they faced chllenges like inadequate ICT gadgets like projectors and limited computers, shortages of teachers and lack of water supply on campus. He said despite these challenges, the administration and staff ensured that they acquire the necessary skills in training.
In his remarks, the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William congratulated the graduates for raising the flag of the college high in their excellent performance at the CAPIEMP.
He said as teachers, they have a very important role to play in their various communities
However, Mungambo regretted over the recent drop in enrolment at GTTC Bangem from 60 students in 2024 and 24 students in 2025.
He said this is an indication of a problem and an investigation shall be conducted to ascertain the drop in enrolment.
According to the SDO, teaching is a noble profession and it is high time the population of Kupe Muanenguba take advantage of the college which is at their doorsteps.
While handing over the graduates students from the Ministry of Secondary Education to the Ministry of Basic Education, the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education, Kupe Muanenguba, Njikang Peter Mejane was confident that the graduates will make the best of teaching in nursery and primary schools in Kupe Muanenguba Division, Cameroon and the world at large.
Like the SDO, the Delegate Njikang was worried with the drop in enroment and called on the population of Kupe Muanenguba to make good use of GTTC Bangem which he describes as a golden jewel.
Other activities that culminated the day include; swearing in of graduates and oath taking conducted by the Vice Principal, Panji Simplice, academic discourse, award of prizes to meritorious students, award of scrolls to graduating students, choral singing and animation.
