Elung Women and Daughters Development Association, EWODCUDA has roofed their Guest House and Women Empowerment Center in Bangem, Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region.
The celebration and dedication ceremony took place on November 22, 2024 at the project site led by the Pastor of Presbyterian Church, Bangem, Rev. Dr. Elangwe Namaya.
In the dedication service, he congratulated the women for uplifting the standard of their hometown through the construction of a Guest House and Empowerment Center. He was optimistic that upon completion, the services of the structure shall assist the Mayor of Bangem Council in the development of the town.
Rev. Namaya who doubles as the Presbeterial Secretary of Bakossi North Presbytery after a prayer session, moved round the building with the women, sprinkling salt for God’s preservation.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the National President of EWODCUDA, Ebote Eyong Nicholine disclosed that for over a year now, Elung Women and Daughters have been putting their resources together to build a guest house.She said when the builder informed them that he was about roofing the Guest House, they decided to come together to celebrate their milestone.
“You know that Bangem being the headquarters of our division has accommodation challenges. The Guest House will have lodging facilities and also serve as a business and empowerment center for women and girls”. Ebote disclosed.
The president announced that once the Guest House is functional, income generated from the project will finance bigger projects in Bangem.
Meanwhile the First National Vice President, Munge Ekongwese epse Mbobe Nkwelle said her heart is full of joy to see their project at this level.
She said they have been raising funds from the foundation level to the roofing of the Guest House.
The Vice President pleaded with all Elung women and daughters not to relent in the fund raising efforts until the project is completed, with all the apartments furnished.
Also, Ewane Sporah Epede, Second Vice President of EWODCUDA thanked their brothers and sisters who have supported them to raise the project to this level. “When we bought this plot about ten years ago, I didn’t know we will build this type of edifice”. She disclosed.
Epede called on those lagging behind to join the association so that collectively, they can achieve greater results.
The Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher encouraged the women through traditional songs as they danced and celebrated in front of the building.
