The South West Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, MINESEC, Dr. Hannah Etonde Mbua, has inaugurated digital friendly classrooms donated by her ministry to Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Limbe.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the school campus, September 26, 2024.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Regional Delegate said the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Pauline Nalova Lyonga donated the building to GBHS Limbe to solve the problem of overcrowding caused by the influx of internal displaced students as a result of the socio political crisis in the North West and South Regions of Cameroon.
She described the building as digital because of modern facilities like electricity with wall sockets round the classrooms to enable students use their laptops with ease. She insisted that with the current facility, only white boards will be used by teachers to teach students. According to Etonde, the building hosting eight classrooms, four offices and four toilets, falls in line with the minister’s vision of providing digital friendly classrooms to students.
While receiving the project, the principal of GBHS Limbe, Elive Elizabeth Liengu expressed gratitude to Minister Nalova through the Regional Delegate for the magnificent building that has solved the challenge of space and improved the aesthetics of the school.
She added that the newly inaugurated building is the lone storey building in the school since its creation in 1988.
Liengu assured that the structure will be used by upper sixth students of the English and French sections so that they use it responsibly.
After inspecting the classrooms, offices and toilets, the delegate recommended that a ramp should be constructed to facilitate access to the digital classrooms and toilets, to enable persons with disability use the facility with ease.
