Verklin Foundation has boosted back to school train in Bangem Sub Division by donating scholarship and school needs to pupils and students.
The handing over ceremony took place on September 11, 2024 at the Bangem Council hall, presided by the Divisional Officer of Bangem Sub Division, Dairou Saly.
Addressing pupils, students and education stakeholders, the representative of Verklin Foundation, Ewane Sporah Epede, expressed joy at the massive turn out of the population, especially pupils and students at the ceremony.
She said their target for this initial phase of the donation is to provide scholarship to needy kids and school needs to pupils and students of examination classes.
Epede disclosed that this pilot phase is reaching out to 150 children in the sub division. She disclosed that they will return during the second and third terms to reward outstanding pupils and students.
Epede who is the mother of the CEO of the foundation personally donated scholarship from three children from Nkikoh, her village of origin, to cover their tuition fee for the entire school year.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the CEO of the foundation, Epolewane Verklin who doubles as Divisional Officer of Limbe III Sub Division, said she decided to reach out to children in Bangem because education is a powerful tool that can break the cycle of poverty for underprivileged children.
She said by donating to the children, they are opening doors for them to study effectively for a better future.
Also speaking at the event, Manka Louisa, Volunteer of Verklin Foundation said their target is to reach out to 150 children to assist them in the back to school journey. She said they brought text books, exercise books, attendance register, and didactic materials. “Our target is to leave no child behind in the education train”. She added.
Kang Blaise Mua, Programs Director of the Foundation encouraged the beneficiaries to use the school needs effectively to improve their results.
He promised that they will return in a short while to reward meritorious students so that they continue to excel and keep the flag of Bangem Sub Division flying.
The Secretary General of Verklin Foundation, Enongene Beltin Epie thanked all those who donated to the foundation to ensure that they reach out to the needy in Bangem Sub Division. He promised that during their next visit, they will reach out to more children.
The Divisional Officer lauded the Verklin Foundation for providing school needs to children in Bangem. He called on elites and other organizations to emulate and assist children in Bangem to ease the learning process.
Julius Ngube, a form five student of GBHS Bangem thanked Verkline Foundation for assisting them with school needs. He promised to study very hard to emerge as best student in the GCE Ordinary Level in Cameroon.
The beneficiary schools include; Government School, Nkikoh, GTHS Bangem, GBHS Bangem. RUYOLSUDEV Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, Bangem, Catholic School Bangem, Inclusive Bilingual Practicing School, Bangem and Chiefs School, Bangem.
Present at the event was the Inspector of Basic Education, Bangem Sub Division, Kang Nzele Amate, the principals of GTHS Bangem, Achale Stephen Achale, GBHS Bangem, Nkwelle Cletus Sume, First Deputy Mayor of Bangem Council, Epienogene Manga, amongst others.
