80 percent of schools in Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region, have successfully resumed for the 2024/2025 academic year.
In a contact tour carried out by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William, September 10, 2024, it was established that majority of schools in Bangem, Nguti and Tombel Sub Divisions have kicked off.In Bangem, the various schools visited by the SDO and his entourage include; Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Bangem, Government Technical High School, GTHS Bangem, Brain Ladder Institute Bangem, Jossam Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, Bangem, Presbyterian Comprehensive Secondary School, PCSS Bangem, Ave Maria College, AVEMACOL Bangem, Inclusive Government Practicing School, IGPS Bangem and Government Teachers Training College, GTTC Bangem.
Addressing pupils and students in all the schools visited, Mungambo congratulated them for their massive turn out on the second day of school.
He cautioned them to take their studies serious for great success to be recorded in their class and national examinations.
However, Mungambo was bitter with the pupils and students for not showing up in school on Monday September 9, 2024, the first day of the academic year.
The students told the SDO that they were absent because Mondays are generally considered ghost town days.
But the supervisory boss of the division told them not to listen to messages of ghost towns from deceivers who want to disrupt their future. He said taking away one day out of five study days weekly is quite destructive to their future.
The SDO warned that serious sanctions will be meted on students who fail to come to school on Mondays.
He also pleaded with parents to shun all forms of fear and send their children to school on Mondays because there is peace in Bangem and Kupe Muanenguba in general.
Speaking at the end of the tour, the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education, Kupe Muanenguba, Njikang Peter Mejame said he is optimistic that this school year will be very successful. He said together with his collaborators, their goal is to ensure better results for Kupe Muanenuba this academic year.
Meanwhile Ngwesse Joseph Nkwelle, Divisional Delegate of Basic Education, Kupe Muanenguba was elated with the success recorded at the start of the academic year.
“We were expecting 18,618 pupils and 540 teachers in the division. So far, over 80 percent of pupils and teachers are present in school today”. He added.
