HRH Chief Mesape Clevis Metuge of Nteho I village has been elected President of Bangem Sub Divisional Chiefs Conference. Chief Mesape with his nine-man exco shall pilot the conference affairs for the next two years.
The Elective General Assembly took place recently at the Bangem Council Hall.
Other members of the bureau include; Chief Mesumbe Simon of Ekaku as vice president, Chief Ngwese Hans of Elum 1, secretary general, Chief Nkoke Joseph of Nyan, treasurer, Chief Sone Fritz of Muetuk- Aku, financial secretary. Also, Chief Ekenjeh Theodore was voted as publicity secretary and Enongene Patrick of Akid as assistant publicity secretary and protocol officer.
Meanwhile, Chief Nkwelle Atabe Peter of Muesok-Muambong, outgoing president, Chief Ndumbe Alexander of Nteho 2 and Chief Ekwelle Makoge of Muebah, Nninong, were all elected advisers.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the newly elected Chief Mesape appreciated the chiefs for electing him as president of Bangem Sub Divisional Chiefs Conference.
He promised to work in close collaboration with the chiefs of the sub division within his two years mandate.
“I am confident that together we shall work as a team and overcome all challenges ahead of us.” The President disclosed.
Chief Mesape also promised to collaborate with the new Divisional Officer, DO of Bangem Sub Division, Dairou Saly to achieve his goals.
The outgoing president, Chief Nkwelle II Peter Atabe on his part, thanked the chiefs of Bangem Sub Division for the support and collaboration they gave him during his mandate.
He advised that since their 2024 projects are heavier than 2023, they should work as a team with the Mayor of Bangem Council, the DO and the newly elected president for success.
Earlier in his address, the Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher appreciated the chiefs for maintaining peace in their various communities despite the challenges.
He said for 2024, they shall work together to ensure that all projects drawn for the year are completed. The Mayor urged them to always take decisions that will benefit their subjects in particular and the population of Bangem municipality in general.
The Divisional Officer, Dairou Saly thanked the chiefs for welcoming him to the subdivision after his installation on February 2, 2024. He promised to collaborate with them fully in all aspects.
He encouraged the newly elected executive members to take their duties serious and also to make sure that the decisions they take reaches other chiefs so that they can also benefit from the resolutions.
Dairou promised to organize a meeting with the chiefs in the nearest future to start resolving land and chieftaincy matters peacefully.
