The Regional Pedagogic Inspector for Basic Education, South West and the Supervisor of Cameroon Education Reform Support Project, PAREC, Dr. Lingondo Joseph Mwambo has ended a sensitization campaign in Kupe Muanenguba on new reforms in the sector.
The two days campaign with inspectors, head teachers, teachers and other basic education stake holders took place in Bangem on March 12, and Tombel on March 13, 2024.
Addressing participants at Bangem Council hall, Achu Kenneth, main Facilitator for Effective Basic Services, EBS, Africa disclosed that the objectives of the workshop is to improve on the allocation of teachers, build teachers’ capacities, increase the availability of essential text books, systematize the assessment of learning outcomes and the financing of education in the division.
After his presentation, participants applauded the move of PAREC but raise some worries in the area of text books.
They lamented that official text books in mathematics, English language and French language were provided leaving aside other subjects like history, geography, citizenship, amongst others. They pleaded that PAREC should address these burning issues.
At the end of the workshop, the Divisional Officer, DO of Bangem Sub Division Dairou Saly, thanked PAREC for the efforts they are making in improving the standard of basic education in Cameroon.
The Inspector of Basic Education, Bangem Sub Division, Kang Nzelle Amate, also appreciated PAREC for consistently revamping the basic education sector for learners to perform effectively at class and national exams.
Speaking to The Ultimate at the end of the meeting, the supervisor of PAREC project and Regional Inspector explained that Cameroon Education Reform Support Project, PAREC, is an international organization.
Dr. Lingondo said the goal of PAREC is to boost and ensure that schools continue to function effectively in Cameroon, especially in crisis areas like the South West and North West Regions.
Also present at the event was the Deputy Mayor of Bangem Council, Enongenepie Manga.
