The Sub Delegate of Sports and Physical Education, Bangem Sub Division, Epie Ernest Ngole, has lamented over the lack of sponsors for the National Federation of School Sports, FENASCO games in the sub division.
Epie was speaking recently at Paul Biya’s Stadium Bangem on the occasion of launching of FENASCO games in the sub division.
He said the launching ceremony was coming up late because of financial difficulties. He explained that they are facing acute financial problems with FENASCO A games for Basic Education because the game is financed based on the number of pupils in the sub division.
“Considering the fact that we have limited number of pupils in Bangem Sub Division it’s so difficult to run the games. FENASCO B is better because government subsidizes it to an extent.” The Sub Delegate regretted.
In addition, Epie said accessibility within his area is a serious handicap and financial difficulties have worsened the situation. He pleaded with alma maters, elites, companies to come in and sponsors FENASCO games in Bangem Sub Division for the development of talents and sports in Kupe Muanenguba.
He cautioned schools to endeavor to obey the rules of the competitions among which include the aspect of size and age morphology.
The Sub Delegate also reminded the students on the objectives of the competition, which is to galvanize students, exchange, showcase talents, socialize and express themselves in sportsmanship.
Also speaking at the launching ceremony, the representative of the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education Epinkwelle Etone called on all the students to adhere love, social cohesion, oneness, for peace and tranquility during the competition. He also insisted that youths must shun all forms of violence during the competition.
In the handball match that took place at the launching ceremony, Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Bangem whitewashed Government Technical High School, GTHS Bangem by fifteen goals to zero.
GBHS Bangem also recorded victory in the football match as they beat GTHS Bangem by three goals to two.
At the end of the matches, Sub Delegate Epie announced that draws will be made in the days ahead for the full participation of all schools in the sub division.
