Fans cued in popular drinking spots within the town to watch the opening match between Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau.
The frenzy is high as they empty their beer bottles expecting more from the teams.
At Momo Me Drinking Spot, Squares Bangem, Kongnyuy Bryan Paul alias DJ Stark said he is happy with the AFCON because it is an avenue for him to learn new skills from international players.
“My expectations are very high as far as this year’s AFCON is concern. It’s really a great moment for us in Bangem. I see myself in Ivory Coast through this TV set. I am enjoying Ivory Coast. I want them to score more goals.” He disclsoed.
Kongnyuy said his eyes are also on Senegal, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Cameroon, suspecting that one of them will likely win the cup.
However, Ndode Oscar described the opening match of the tournament as boring. He said Ivory Coast is playing as if it is not an opening game. “I expect more goals from Ivory Coast.” He added.
Ndode was optimistic that Cameroon is going to win the trophy of the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
He said as a footballer, he is learning new style of play especially from the technicality of the Ivorian players.
