The 31st of December 2023 was another rendez-vous for the population of Bangem, Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region, to commune with the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya as he addressed the nation through their television sets.
Around 6:30pm administrative, municipal and security officials in Bangem Sub Division converged at the residence of the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba Division, Mungambo Ekema William to welcome the President of the Republic and listen to his speech.
At exactly 8:00pm the environment was serene and calm as dignitaries listened keenly to President Biya through the giant television screen at the esplanade of the SDO’s residence.
From one table to another, the guests gradually and silently emptied their glasses of beer, wine and whisky, while the barbecue spot supplied continuous pork and goat meat to invitees.
The silence was broken at the end of the President’s address as dignitaries began discussing and analyzing the speech from the beginning to the end.
Besides the SDO’s residence where guests had a time with the President, almost every house in Bangem, Tombel and Nguti Sub Divisions with a TV set had an encounter with the Head of State on television. Kupe Muanenguba denizens have continued to digest the Head of State’s address at home, offices, and business places for a glorious 2024.
Reacting to the Head of State’s message, the SDO was happy that the Head of State has promised intolerance to persons who feel that they can do anything at any time and leave the nation in jeopardy.
Mungambo also expressed satisfaction with the way the President of the Republic addressed the issue of teachers.
For Kupe-Manenguba, the SDO promised rough days ahead for people who feel that they can hide behind politics and neglect the job that has been assigned to them by the government.
Also reacting to the address of the Head of State, the Mayor of the Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher said the message of the Head of State brings hope to the people of Kupe-Manenguba Division in 2024.
He said Bangem Council just ended their budgetary session for 2024 which gave priority to some of the key issues which the Head of State addressed like water and energy shortages.
Mayor Ekungwe said 2024 comes with innovations to Bangem municipality and called for support from the people of the Sub Division.
Ekungwe appreciated the collaboration he has been receiving from elite and wished to have more in 2024 for Bangem municipality to achieve greater development.
