The Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher, has officially handed keys to the newly constructed and equipped Nkikoh Health Center to the community.
The handing over ceremony took place on the 22nd of December 2023 in Nkikoh village, Bangem Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division.
While handing over the keys to the Chief of Center, Nkikoh, Nnane Stella, Mayor Ekungwe said the council constructed building costs FCFA 50 million, while FCFA 20 million was used to equip the Center under the Public Investment Budget for 2023.
The Mayor further disclosed that the Nkikoh Health Center is of great priority because it stands in a position to serve over six neighboring villages. He called on the population to make good use of the facility and not to stay at home when sick because health is wealth.
The Mayor also appreciated councilors of Bangem Council for their collaboration towards the realization of the project, which according to him shows they have their community at heart.
He hailed the Nkikoh Cultural and Development Association for their support, and elite for facilitating his work by ensuring that the council benefits from certain projects.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the Chief of Nkikoh Health Center, Nnane Stella said that the new facility is a gender structure, unlike the previous one which did not separate male and female wards. She was also happy that the new health center has a pediatric ward, a laboratory and a clinic.
Nnane revealed that because of the new structure and equipment at the health center, she has already discussed with the District Medical Officer, DMO for Bangem Health District, Dr Nkeng Fobellah who has agreed that surgeries will be done at the Nkikoh Health Center.
According to her, the construction of the Nkikoh Health Center is a health breakthrough to Nkikoh and her sister villages.
The Regent Chief of Nkikoh, Esong Eric Esong appreciated the government of Cameroon for improving the health center in their community through the Bangem Council. “This is a great motivation to the Nkikoh Cultural and Development Association as they will prioritize the improvement of the health facility continually.” Regent Chief Esong disclosed.
