The Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT has selected twenty-five kids from Kupe Muanenguba, in line with the program, ‘talent detection.’
The selection exercise took place in Bangem, Tombel and Nguti recently.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the Divisional Technical Adviser of FECAFOOT, Kupe Muanenguba, Felix Tabe disclosed that ‘Talent Detection’ is a programme of the International Association of Football Federation, FIFA, coordinated by FECAFOOT.
He said the objective of the programme is identify kids with football talents in all sub divisions in Cameroon and to give them equal opportunity to excel.
The Technical Adviser said his specific objective in the division is to scout and select twenty-five girls and twenty boys between the ages of twelve and thirteen years. He said after navigating between Bangem, Tombel and Nguti Sub Divisions, he successfully identified twenty-five boys who shall represent the division at the regional level. He said at the regional level, fifty kids (twenty-five boys and twenty-five girls) shall be selected at the national level.
Tabe said at the national level, based on their various talents, they will be recruited to play at the various category of the national team like the Under 20, Under 17, amongst others.
He however disclosed that his major challenge is to identify female football players within the division. However, Tabe was optimistic that during the FENASCO Games in 2024, he will scout for female football players in the division to complete the list and submit it to FECAFOOT.
The adviser pleaded with parents to allow their children play football, because there are a lot of hidden talents amongst the kids.
Meanwhile the Sub Divisional Delegate Sports and Physical Education, Epie Ernest said it was easy to identify kids with football talents in Bangem Sub Division because he has worked with them during FENASCO games.
He said kids in the sub division are endowed with talents though most of them have crossed the thirteen years’ specification by FECAFOOT. He was positive that more female talented kids in football shall be discovered to complete the divisional list of FECAFOOT for subsequent submission at the regional level.
The Kupe Muanenguba President of FECAFOOT, HRH Ebong Pende Divine called on all stakeholders in the division to be collaborative and assist the technical adviser to successfully collect the needed data. He said this is a new dawn in Cameroonian football with equal opportunity given to every talented youth without discrimination.
