General Ekongwese Divine Nnoko, Commander of the Second Gendarmerie Region, has acquainted himself with stakeholders and the population of Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region.
The two-day routine operational mission to the division took place on the 18th and 19th of January 2023.
Accompanied by General Eba Eba Bede Benoit, Commander of the Second Joint Military Region, their first exchange was with the Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William, where they discussed security conditions of the division.
General Ekongwese and team later moved to the Court. At the Legal Department of Bangem, they interacted with the Deputy State Counsel No 1, Olivia Kumfa, and other personnel. At The Bench, the President of the Court of First Instance, Bangem and the High Court of Kupe Munenguba, Justice Mbua Fritz Nalionge, received them.
They also visited the Bangem Council, the Central Police Station, Bangem, the Gendarmerie Brigade and the Company Gendarmerie, where they had in-camera meetings.
In a meeting with motorbike riders on January 19, General Ekongwese told them to shun manipulation from the diaspora, ghost towns, and focus on their jobs. He donated the sum of five hundred and forty thousand (540.000) FCFA to the Bangem Motorbike Riders Association to start a development project to assist them improve on their living conditions.
The President of Bangem Motorbike Riders, Mbogwe Martin Epie thanked the General for his humility and the advice given them. He promised that they will continuously contribute to the maintenance of peace in the Division.
Speaking at the end of their visit, the Gendarmerie Legion Commander for South West Region, Colonel Tchinda Mbouzikeu Henri said their tour to Kupe Muanenguba is to understand security conditions of the division, know the working conditions of gendarmes, and to counsel them on how to effectively function.
Meanwhile Colonel Onambele Louis, Commander of the 21st Infantry Brigade said part of their mission to the division is to assess the situation of one of their Check Points in Bangem where an incident occurred recently.
He said testimonies from all authorities in the division indicate that the security situation is improving and good.
The Colonel encouraged soldiers to continue to maintain peace and security. He appealed to the public to always support defense and security forces by giving the right information when necessary.
