The gendarmes of New Bell Douala arrested and detained two alleged cannabis traffickers.
The two men apprehended at a place called “kilometre five” hid the seven cannabis stocks in textile materials ready for export from Cameroon to Gabon.
“An informant informed us of this cannabis stock in a store belonging to these two suspects. We immediately launched an investigation that turned out to be positive. They intended to pass cannabis to Gabon. This shows that this is what they have been doing for a very long time, “explained the commander of the New Bell gendarmerie brigade.
Some stunned spectators, known to be business people who buy textile materials in bulk and sell them in their store say it’s a revelation.
“I’m very scared now. If that’s what they did, it means that I could have been a victim one day. Instead of clothes, I will be sold cannabis. This gives me a reason to be more careful, “said a merchant.
The gendarmes, exposing the actual content of the seven clothing stocks, told the population to be vigilant because many of these individuals could still be there and among them.
“Imagine that you give huge sums of money to buy clothes and that when you come home or to your store, you find strange things rather than what you paid for. It is the equivalent of death. I urge you to be careful. Check before you win and if you see anything doubtful, do not hesitate to call everyone, “said the commander of the New-Bell brigade.
The two suspects currently detained at the New Bell Mounted Police will be brought before the judges in the coming days to defend themselves.
In the meantime, the gendarmes have promised to continue investigating and denouncing more of these crooked individuals.
