The Political Desk Editor of Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, Albert Njie Mbonde, has been coronated as the fifth monarch of Bokwaong-Membea village, Buea Sub Division, South West Region.
The coronation ceremony took place at Bokwaongo on June 7, 2025, bringing together traditional rulers, colleagues, friends, administrative officials, the local population and beyond.
The Paramount Ruler of Buea, HRM Robert Esuka Endeley, backed by traditional rulers of Fako, traditionally and officially crowned Chief Njie Mbonde as the 5th monarch of Bokwaongo village.

In his address, the Divisional Officer of Buea Sub Division, Abba Abdurahman congratulated Chief Njie Mbonde for his ascension to the throne of Bokwaongo village.
He said the chief was selected amongst three other contestants in a consultative talk on March 19, 2025, by the kingmakers.
The DO intimated that on April 7, 2025, a Prefectural Order from the Senior Divisional Officer of Fako, Viang Mekalla, recognized him as the chief of Bokwaongo.
DO Abdurahman urged the new king to act as the primary development agent in his community, foster peace and unity amongst his people.

He further charged the new chief to manage all land related issues with justice, fight against deviant behavior in the village, as he is taking leadership on the eve of the upcoming presidential election in October 2025.
The newly coronated king takes over from his predecessor, Chief Ekana Molua Messe who died in 2023.
Reacting to the press, the President of South West Chiefs Conference, SWECC, Chief Dr. Mokube John Ahmadou of Bafaka Balue congratulated Chief Njie Mbonde for taking over the chieftaincy tool of Bokwaongo.
While appreciating South West chiefs for their massive attendance, he cautioned the newly coronated to lead by example with dynamism and love for his people.

He promised that the chiefs of the South West Region will not only support him but will guide him traditionally for success on the throne.
Professor Kingsley Ngange, a notable of Buea, saluted the new chief and disclosed that it is a bright future for Bokwaongo village. “The chief is a dynamic person. We wish him the best as we pray for him continuously.” He added.

Biography
Chief Albert Njie Mbonde was born on July 1, 1980, in Bokwaongo. He obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates at Government Bilingual High School. GBHS Limbe. He later gained admission into the University of Buea under the Department of Political Science. He was recruited as a journalist with CRTV where he worked till date.
Since 2015, Chief Njie Mbonde is the Political Desk Editor of CRTV. He also served as press officer in charge of the under 20 Indomitable Lions of Cameroon from 2014 to 2018. He is married with children.
