This is the consequence of an incident in the Southern Interconnected Network (RIS).
The Northwest, Southwest, West, Coastal, Central, South and East regions grouped in the RID are facing load shedding. These power cuts are due to the unavailability of the 225kV Kribi-Mangombe transmission line following an incident.
As a result, “until the rehabilitation of this network by Sonatel, the Kribi gas plant will not be able to inject energy into the Southern Interconnected Network (RIS)….rotary load shedding will be programmed in the different regions of the RIS,” as informed by the electric energy distributor Eneo Cameroon in a statement published on Monday.
According to the concessionaire, in view of this large deficit, he “is working to use as much as possible for its fuel-fired thermal power plants, and to mobilize industrial customers to give up all or part of their consumption” to serve households as a “priority”.
