Rev Cletus Aka, Rev Lucian Mua Ebua, Rev Rodrick Yangsi Shim, Rev John Mark Pokwango Leong, Rev Martin Ngala Nlinwe, Rev Martin Njie Mayea Moka and Rev Dieudonne Moka Javea are the 7 newly ordained priests of the Diocese who have taken the commitment to be truthful I the discharge of their duties as servants of the most high God.
The priestly ordination was presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, Bishop Michael Bibi and took place at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral this Thursday April 13 2023 in Buea. In his homily, Bishop Bibi said “My message for today especially during this Easter period is that of great joy and hope; a message which calls on us all to repent and have a strong believe in Jesus Christ or master and saviour.
The Bishop encouraged the newly ordained priests to preach the word of God and be active in season and out of season. “Convince people, rebuke them and exhort them. Be patient in the teachings in you carry out as a priests. Consider that your life and ministry is a service to the unity of the church of Christ. You must be a symbol of the unity which Christ stood for and gave up his life.
Talking to Rev Father Moka Dieudonne Javea after the priestly ordination, he was elated and thanked God for such a wonderful and fulfilled day. “We pray that God guides us and gives us the grace to be good servants in his vineyard”.
“We all have a special responsibility to worship Jesus and be guided by what our priests tell us to do which is in accordance with the church’s doctrine. Let us not put our priests into trouble and let’s not encourage them to be at the wrong places. Let us pray for them at all times” Bishop Bibi told the Christian faithful
Talking to the press the Bishop noted that “We are glad because God has chosen his children to be ordained today as priests of the Catholic Church. We want to thank their families as well as the teachers who accompanied them during their formation period”. He cautioned the newly ordained priests to live a good and holy life, respect the elderly priests, learn from them and above all remain humble.
