The Elung Women and Daughters Cultural and Development Association (EWODCUDA) paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Kupe Muanenguba, Nguia Beina Theophile and wife, Nguia Miriam, and adopted them as son and daughter of Elung community.

Led by their National President, Eyong Ebote Nicholine, and about 30 members of the association, the women converged at the SDO’s residence on October 18, 2025.

In an address presented by President Ebote, she said they have come to officially congratulate the SDO for his appointment to Kupe Muanenguba, and to welcome him and family to the division.

She said the visit was a gesture of goodwill and a demonstration of the association’s commitment to working with the SDO and his wife. “We are happy to have a leader like you who is approachable and willing to work with us,” she said. “We promise to continue supporting you in your endeavors and to work together for the development of our division.” Ebote added.

The President said EWODCUDA is an association of Elung daughters, and wives married to Elung sons, from all 13 villages that constitute the Elung community.

Ebote revealed that in its 14 years of existence, EWODCUDA has grown from five to nine branches, with a membership of 300 women.
Ebote revealed that over the years, they have carried out numerous projects like the donation of medical equipment to the Mbat and Nkikoh Health Centers, the provision of school supplies and scholarships to girls in schools in the Elung community, amongst others.

She said the most current and ongoing project is the construction of a guest house and Women Empowerment Centre in Bangem, which is at the finishing level. “We are hoping that someday, the government through the reconstruction plan for the North West and South West Region will recognize our effort and come to our aid in the execution of this project.” She added.
In a heartwarming gesture, the President said for his hospitality and open-door policy, the SDO and his wife have been adopted into the Elung family.

She said the adoption is a symbol of the strong bond between the women and the SDO, and a demonstration of their commitment to working together for the development of the division.

The women then decorated the SDO’s wife with a kaba, (Bakossi traditional female wear) and named her ‘ndadume’ (mother of everybody).

Earlier in her prayers, Ntungwe Mamella of EWODCUDA Buea branch, showered blessings on the divisional couple and prayed for God’s protection upon them during their stay in Kupe Muanenguba.

The women also donated series of gifts to the SDO, his wife, and the entire family.

In his words of appreciation, SDO, Nguia lauded the women for the visit and the gifts. He thanked them for their support and assistance to government’s development drive and promised to always be available to them.

“I am touched by your visit and the gesture of adopting us into your family,” he said. “I promise to always be open to you and to work with you for the development of our division.”

The SDO’s wife, Nguia Miriam, was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. “I am so touched by your gesture,” she said. “I thank you for adopting us into your family. We will always cherish this moment and work with you.” She added.
