Thirty-six head teachers in Bangem Sub Division, have received ream of papers, registers, first aid box and other didactic materials from Bangem Council, Kupe Muanenguba Division, for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The distribution exercise took place at the Inspectorate of Basic Education, Bangem, August 7, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the Mayor, Ekungwe Christopher Kang, the Secretary General, Clementine Agbor Osim said the materials handed to school is government’s initiative through the council to assist schools yearly.

She said though the materials have been supplied late due to financial bottlenecks, it will eventually assist schools for the 2025/2026 academic year.
She cautioned that since education is the backbone of development, they should use the materials to improve on the teaching and learning process for pupils in Bangem municipality to have best results in class and national exams.

The Inspector of Basic Education, Kanzelle Amate Elone appreciating the council for fulfilling its engagement to primary schools in the sub division.
He regretted that though didactic materials meant for last academic year are received now, it will enable head teachers effectively prepare to start the 2025/2026 school year successfully.

Kanzelle added that considering the shortage of teachers in some schools, he is working hard to ensure that teachers in over staffed schools are redeployed to needy schools.
The inspector congratulated all the head teachers for a 100 percent score in the Government Common Entrance and First School Leaving Certificate.
Reactions
Speaking to The Ultimate, Ebong Walters Nkwelle, Head Teacher of Government Practicing School, Muaku was happy that the materials received will ease their work in the classroom.

While appreciating the council, Ebong, who is President of Bangem Head Teachers Association pleaded with the government to release money to councils on time for materials to be provided to schools within the academic year and not at the end of year instead.
Cecilia Dione, Head Teacher of Government School Ebonemin said one of the challenges faced by her school is the absence of teachers. “We are just three of us in the entire school and it is not easy for us. We are optimistic that teachers will be sent to the school this academic year.” She added.

Also, Ngwesse Raymond, Head Teacher of Government School Nzimbeng, appreciated the mayor for adding First Aid Box to the list of materials to schools. “I am happy because any pupil that will be sick in school will receive some first aid. This will greatly boost our results.” The head teacher disclosed.
