The Traditional Ruler of Manyemen, Nguti Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West Region, Chief Besong Williams has boosted voters’ registration in the village by encouraging the population to inscribe their names in the electoral register with Elections Cameroon, ELECAM.
The massive registration exercise took place recently in Manyemen, where over 500 people reportedly register with ELECAM, facilitated by the chief.

Prior to the arrival of ELECAM, the chief used town criers to sensitize the population on the importance of the registration and performing their civic responsibilities.
Besides the registration process, the chief donated tablets of soap and cooking oil to all those who answer the call to the ELECAM booth for the registration process.
Speaking to The Ultimate, Chief Besong revealed that his move to boost voters’ registration was part of the celebration of the 53rd National Day on May 20, 2025.

He said it was their own way to celebrate national unity, peace and prosperity in Manyemen in particular and Cameroon in general.
According to the Chief, with the upcoming Presidential Elections in October 2025, he wanted his people to possess their voters’ card in order to fully participate in the electoral process and exercise their civic responsibilities on election day.
He called on the population to be calm, peaceful and hardworking as they celebrate the National Day on May 20, 2025.

Reacting to the gesture of Chief Besong, the population thanked their traditional ruler for his sacrifice to make Manyemen great again.
However, they pleaded with the government to open an identification post in Manyemen village to help them establish their National Identity cards and other identification documents.
They cried that with the absence of this facility in the village; they are forced to travel to Kumba to establish this document which is very costly.

The population also revealed that many people have not registered with ELECAM in the village because they lack ID cards to facilitate the registration process.
