Ahead of the celebration of World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2025, the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ Bangem Chapter has programmed a workshop to empower journalists with journalism ethics and best practices.
This was part of resolutions of a preparatory meeting that took place on April 4, 2025 in Bangem.
Speaking during the meeting that held at Street One Bangem, the Divisional Delegate of Commu
nication, Kupe Muanenguba, Dr. Olive Ejang Tebug lauded journalists for the initiative of coming together under the banner of CAMASEJ.
She said once journalists work in solidarity, they can promote diversity and inclusivity, improve reporting quality, increase audience engagement and manage the stress and challenges of one another.
Dr. Ejang assured that the doors of the delegation are open to receive journalists, assist them in their profession, and help them overcome challenges.
The delegate further disclosed that as they prepare for World Press Freedom Day, the envisaged workshop is crucial to prepare journalists to the next level.
She also encouraged the Kupe Muanenguba press men to respect the laws of the state and plan effectively for a successful celebration.
Dr. Ejang was elated that journalism club students in secondary schools within the division will join journalists to celebrate 2025 World Press Freedom Day.
Also speaking at the meeting, the President of CAMASEJ Bangem Chapter, Etuge Emmanuel, Publisher of The Informant Newspaper congratulated his members for the vision of celebrating World Press Freedom Day with a workshop to sharpen their skills.

He said it was necessary for journalists to take stock of their daily activities and plan for a better future.
Etuge added that Kupe Muanenguba is proud to have a MINCOM delegate who is very competent to train journalists in communication and journalism.
He pleaded with Dr. Ejang to be their resource person for the workshop earmarked for May 2, the eve of their celebration.
The president announced that besides the workshop, they will have a football match against teachers of Kupe Muanenguba, interschool competition on news writing and broadcasting amongst journalism club students, award of prizes to winners, excursion to Ndibse Hot Spring, a gala night, amongst others.
Also, the Secretary General of CAMASEJ Bangem, Ngole Ediage, reporter with The Ultimate Newspaper, urged members to intensify training ahead of their football encounter. He also told members to meet up with registration formalities as enshrined in their constitution.
Ekwelle Abuge Franklin of Ultimate Community Radio, Bangem said as social secretary of the chapter, he will ensure that the planned activities scheduled at the conference hall of the new edifice of the Divisional Delegation of Communication, Kupe Muanenguba is a success.
The meeting ended with heavy refreshment.
