The 1991 alumni of Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Bangem, has empowered students with examination techniques, donating equipment to boost their performance.


The symposium was organized on the campus of GBHS Bangem, April 4, 2025 as part of their General Assembly meeting in Bangem.

Speaking at the ceremony, the national President of the 1991 alumni, Dr. Nzille Nicodemus Elumba thanked the principal, Nkwelle Cletus for opening his doors to them.
He said as ex-students, they have come to give back to the school that groomed them to be great men and women, as their own way of promoting excellence amongst current students.

Dr. Nzille who is an Organizational Psychologist and lecturer, University of Douala, told the students that they were once like them in the classroom. “Our wish is that you excel in wisdom and knowledge, and even become greater than us in society.” He added.

In the symposium, Mbote Ekane Loveline epse Ekolle, Head of Department, English Language at GHS Dibombari focused on Form five students with Directed Writing and Composition.
She gave them techniques of scoring an A grade in English Language and other subjects with ease.

Also, Mbelle Collete from Government Bilingual Practicing High School, GBPHS Yaounde, addressed Advance Level English Literature students.
She said while writing the GCE, Advanced Level students should focus on analysis, interpretation, and valuable judgement on their own point of view. “This will score you high in your exams. Anything outside this will land you in the pit. Our joy is to have 100 percent in the General Certificate of Education, GCE from GBHS Bangem.” She pleaded.

Meanwhile Ndode Clifford Meduke, Agricultural Engineer and a Pastor working in Mamfe, lectured the students on seven ingredients to excellence. He told the students to apply the keys diligently for success in all their examinations.

Also, Missionary Lawrence Kang Sone talked on the effective use of water filters,

while Epienkwelle Etone lectured on the importance of manual labour and agriculture to the lives of students.

It should be noted that besides the symposium, the ex-students donated four water filters, two knapsack sprayers, a printer, a photocopier and a voltage regulator.

While receiving the equipment, the Principal thanked the 1991 alumni for giving back to their alma mater. He said the school was in dire need of all the items donated and promised to use them effectively for the success of the students.

Nkwelle prayed God to bless the alumni for the generous donation and pleaded that their doors are open for more because their challenges are diverse.

Speaking to The Ultimate at the end of the ceremony, Same Joel Sumbelle, Senior Prefect of the school thanked the alumni for giving them examination tips as they approach the GCE.
While promising excellent results at class and national exams, he lauded the ex-students for their timely donation and for their interest to enhance success amongst students of the school.
Another Upper Sixth student, Enome Senge Jamian disclosed that some of their challenges include; lack of teachers in core subjects, lack of potable water on campus, lack of school bus, amongst others.

She pleaded with other alumni to assist the school out of this dilemma.
