In a display of community spirit, Bangem Women and Daughters Development Association (BAWODDA) Douala Branch has donated two grass cutters and six trash cans to Bangem District Hospital. Besides, the association also donated soaps and toiletries to patients at the hospital.

The handing over ceremony took place on March 15, 2025 at the hospital complex.
While handing over the gifts to the hospital and patients, the President of BAWODDA, Douala Branch, Mesumbe Rose Ebude épouse Ewang disclosed that their objective to the hospital is to contribute their own quota to improve the standard of the facility.

She said with the grass cutter and trash cans, BAWODDA is ensuring environmental cleanliness in the hospital for patients’ health.
According to Ebude, by donating to patients, this will facilitate their healing and recovery process at a faster rate.

The president further emphasized that the association though at its infantry, decided to give back to the needy in their community. “It is not how much you give that matters but the heart in which you give.” She added.

Ebude further announced that besides reaching out to the hospital, they have plans to support the ongoing project of the building their community hall in Bangem with 50 bags of cement. She said this will be done at the annual General Assembly of Bangem elite.

Speaking on behalf of the Director, Dr. Esambe Emmanuel, the General Supervisor, Ebot Lucia thanked BAWODDA for the generous contributions to the hospital.
She said the items donated will go a long way to support their work and especially patients who could not afford their basic needs. Ebot promised to make good use of these items.
The General Supervisor further added that BAWODDA-Douala branch has set an example of community service. She said their donation to the hospital is an initiative that can have an impact on the people’s lives. “The association’s kindness and selflessness is an example to inspire others to follow their footsteps.” She added.
Speaking to The Ultimate, Mama Ebode a patient thanked the association for assisting them with basic needs at the hospital. “The soap and toilet tissues I received from the association will help me throughout my stay in the hospital.” She disclosed.
Another patient, Eyabi Abraham also thanked the association for the gifts given to him. He prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon all the members of the association.
