Dr. Rose Enang works at Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), an international Christian women organization. She also teaches English at the International School of Relations, IRIC, Yaounde.
She has been working with girls and women for over thirty years. Her activities at YWCA and the SUMEDIANG (Bakossi Women’s Movement) have impacted many girls and women over the years.
Dr. Enang revealed that the two groups with similar goals and objectives center on upholding Christian values and empowering girls and women.
She disclosed that over the years, they have educated girls and women to be creative and innovative through workshops, seminars and conferences that they organize.
According to Dr. Enang, they have also assisted grassroot women financially and supporting them with farm tools to ensure better yields and eventually improve living standards.
She said they always organize retreats and bible studies to strengthen the spiritual lives of women, teaching them honesty, accountability and credibility.
“We also have a Scholarship Fund to encourage excellence and promote vocational and technical education. We also have a Microfinance Institution to help girls and women start up small businesses”. She added
Dr. Enang added that they are presently building a Women’s Empowerment Centre in Tombel to make Women’s empowerment effective and sustainable.
She advised women to build their self-esteem, think positive and big, build their skills, support and encourage other women.
Dr. Enang hails from Ngombo-ku, Tombel Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division.
