The third badge of Nyassoso Ex-Students Association, NEXSA has erected a posterity-oriented 50th anniversary monument on the campus of Government High School, GHS Nyassoso.

The monument was officially unveiled by the Senor Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William, on February 1, 2025, during the celebration of the golden jubilee of GSS-GHS Nyassoso.

In an address by the President General of NEXSA, Rt Col Sone Ajang Joseph, he announced that besides the monument, the 1974 class (pioneer badge) constructed a gigantic gate at the entrance of the campus to magnify the anniversary.

He said some pivotal projects realized by NEXSA to their Alma mater include; sanitation provisions for the up keep of the compound through the purchase of herbicides, a lawn mower and provision of trash cans.

Col Sone added that they have rehabilitated some structures of the school including painting, of the chapel, the administrative block and classrooms, the re-equipping of the science and computer laboratories provision of a generator to allay epileptic power outrage and ensure a consequential studious environment, award of prizes ranging from FCFA two to three million to meritorious students and members of academic and administrative staff, scholarship grants, assistance to PTA sponsored teachers, provision of didactic materials to the school, amongst others.

The President General lauded the fruitful partnership between NEXSA and Nyassoso Cultural and Development Association, NYACUDA, Tombel Council and Nyassoso community at home and abroad which enabled them to repair patches of the road from Tombel to Nyassoso.

Col Sone equally announced that NEXSAN economic activity will be intensified after the jubilee to ensure the association’s financial sustainability. He said they will creat an endowment fund for the execution of projects, create a multipurpose educational hub and advocate for internal and external partnership.
He also thanked the school authorities, the organizing committee of the jubilee, NEXSANs and all those who contributed to make the jubilee successful.

In his keynote address, SDO Mungambo a NEXSAN of the 1981 class (8th badge), appreciated NEXSA for the remarkable investment in GHS Nyassoso. He said it was nostalgic meeting classmates and friends after several years.

While paying tributes to all fallen principals of GSS/GHS Nyassoso, Mungambo lauded the current principal, Akume Danis Ebong, staff, security forces and entire population of Nyassoso for their sacrifices to ensure peace return to the community.
He congratulated the principal for the increase in enrolment from 105 to 150 students.
The SDO promised to ensure that teachers redeployed from GHS Nyassoso to safer zones as a result of the socio-political crisis in the region, return to the institution.
He instructed NEXSA and NYACUDA to partner and employ a teacher in Information and Communication Technology, ICT for the institution.

Earlier in his welcome address, the principal hinged on the slogan, “No NEXSA, no GHS Nyassoso”.
He lamented that GHS Nyassoso is plague with a lot of problems beginning from shortages of teachers especially in sciences, electricity problems, and low enrolment as many Nyassoso students refuse to school in the village, amongst others.

He thanked Nyassoso Wives and Daughters Association, NYAWIDA and Nyassoso diaspora who have been instrumental to the growth of the school.
Also, HRM Nhon Mbwog Ntoko III, Paramount Chief of Nyassoso through his regent, told NEXSANs that their alma mater stands at a critical crossroads and their involvement is more important than ever.

He said their contributions could fund workshops, buy materials and organize expert-led programs to enrich the learning experience of students.

Other anniversary activities include; cutting of jubilee cake, launching of magazine, award of prizes to outstanding NEXSANs, recognition of the jubilee organizing committee, amongst others.

GSS Nyassoso was created in 1974 on the ashes of the former PTTC Nyassoso, and in 1991, the school was elevated to GHS Nyassoso.
