What is your appraisal of President Paul Biya at the helm of the Supreme Magistracy of Cameroon since 1982?
HE President Paul Biya’s achievements for Cameroon are enormous and vast. They range from economic, socio political, human rights, among others, bringing about the most cherished peace we have today. Cameroon pride itself as the most peaceful country in Sub Saharan Africa.
As an economist, I will like to limit myself to his economic achievements. Cameroon has achieved economic stability under his reign. Taking over a primitive economy in 1982, he implemented the structural adjustment program that has gone a long way to bring about the spilled over effects in road infrastructure, bridges, and even the energy sectors.
The oil and gas sector is developed so well that Cameroon is amongst the greatest oil producers in the world, with oil revenues counting about 65% of Cameroon’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP.
Lastly his recently adopted decentralization policy to see resources devolved to local entities is the magic one taking Cameroon to emergence.
What are some of the achievements of the CPDM party in Nninong?
Talking about achievements and successes in Nniong, we can’t start without bringing to fore the vision bearer who is HE President Paul Biya and of course our illustrious son of the soil HE Ngole Philip Ngwese formerly Minister of Forestry and Wildlife and presently Cameroon’s High Commissioner to Canada.
Firstly, Nninong clan use to have three sub sections, today we have four subsections. This is of course proof of increased militancy at the grassroots. Our strategy of all Nniong Sub Sections Joint Conference greatly paid off.
Secondly, the absolute peace we enjoy in our clan and Bangem Sub Division in general is an achievement worth celebrating in the context where 60% of such communities in the North West and South West are not accessible. We want to thank the local administration and security forces for this great success.
Thirdly, we CPDM militants in Nniong pride ourselves with the economic and infrastructural development that have come our way this far. The numerous health centers, the colleges, all Nniong villages are electrified , we have telephone network, every village got an elementary school, not forgetting the forest reserve in Muaku Nninong.
What is your vision for your Sub section?
My vision for my Sub Section and the party at large is that of encouraging self-sustainability. Sustainability you know is one of the MDGs and enhancing that at the grassroots will go a long way to impact our militants greatly and of course the party’s growth at a larger scale.
Being a predominantly agricultural area, self-sustainable schemes like coming together through cooperatives will enhance the militants a lot as this will come with availability of farm inputs, organization of agricultural research seminars etc. Thereby reducing the over dependence on the external elite for funding and sponsorship of individual candidates during electoral confrontations.
Any last word?
My last words to our party militants as we celebrate the 42nd anniversary of great successes of our president and father of the nation H.E Paul Biya, is that of encouragement and never loss guard to other political adversaries who may come to deceive them with manifestos that can’t be attained especially as we prepare for the presidential elections in 2025.
