The Local Organizing Committee of the Ekah Sustainable Football for Peace and Harmony, Bangem, has sanctioned Chambers FC and Friends of Friends FC for indiscipline.
The decision was taken on August 19, 2024 during an emergency meeting at the Bangem Council Hall.
The emergency meeting was convened following the cancellation of the third position match earlier scheduled on Sunday August 18, 2024.
Both teams arrived Paul Biya Stadium Bangem with their full squad but mostly under 15 kids, who have never featured in the tournament. Also, the kids did not have licenses.
This sparked heated argument between the teams executive and match officials, leading to a stalemate for close to three hours under the watchful eyes of hundreds of spectators at the stadium.
After the heated debate, the President of the Local Organizing Committee, Ngide Lordbrown announced that the match has been canceled following indiscipline by both teams and the non-respect of the rules of the game. He then announced a crisis meeting the next day to handle the situation.
Meanwhile in the emergency meeting, the Local Organizing Committee levied a fine of FCFA 25.000 for both teams.
The third position match was rescheduled for Thursday August 22, 2024.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the Coach of Friends of Friends FC, Mukete Verkline alias Tom said he is embarrassed at the decision taken by the Committee.
According to him, most of their players came out of town and after their elimination at the semifinals, they had to use home base players. Mukete argued that his players are not under aged because some of them are above 18 years.
