The Divisional Delegate of Housing and Urban Development, MINHDU, Kupe Muanenguba, Takang Orock Ewube has launched the 2024 edition of the Clean Cities Contest in the division.
The launching ceremony took place on August 2, 2024 in Bangem, Head Quarters of the Division.
Speaking at the ceremony, the delegate expressed great joy and thanked the population for coming out massively for the ceremony.
He said the objective of the contest is to encourage the population to keep their towns clean by cleaning roads, gutters, streets and the entire environment daily.
“We have nominated team heads in every quarter within the division to make sure their quarters are clean. The team does the follow up and at the end, the team head supervises and submit his report”. Ewube added.
Ewube, who is also a Civil Works Engineer disclosed that in 2022 and 2023, Bangem took second at the Regional level because they didn’t master the expected techniques.
He encouraged the population of Bangem, Tombel and Nguti to implement strategies set up by the jury in the competitive contest to be victorious at the Regional and National level.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba Division, Mungambo Ekema William, represented by his First Assistant, Djaone Mougium appreciated the delegate for effectively organizing the launching exercise.
He lauded the population of Bangem, Nguti and Tombel for their endless efforts in making sure their towns are clean.
The First Assistant SDO was confident that one of the cities in Kupe Muanenguba will win the first position at the regional and national level.
Also, the Divisional Officer for Bangem Sub Division, Dairo Saly, pleaded with the population of Bangem to put their hands together and work for victory at the regional and national level. He encouraged the youths in Bangem to facilitate the implementation of the cleanup exercise.
The First Deputy Mayor of Bangem Council, Enongene Epie Manga said they have set up strategies to ensure the continuous cleaning of roads, streets and gutters in Bangem.
He assures the population that they are going to put their hands together to ensure that Bangem represents South West Region at the national level.
It should be noted that the launching began with a walk from the Bangem Council to Squares by administrators, youths, businessmen, bike riders and other stakeholders.
In the course of the walk, gutters were kept clean, roads swept and dirt was removed along the road and gutters to prevent standing water from damaging the tarred roads.
Meanwhile Tombel youths of Ward Seven have also started cleaning their streets and filling potholes in preparation of the victory at the national level of the contest.
The divisional jury is expected to submit their results to the South West Regional Jury latest August 15. The transmission of the regional results of the competition to the national level has been scheduled for August 30, 2024.
