The Divisional Delegate of Housing and Urban Development, MINHDU, Kupe Muanenguba, Takang Orock Ewube, has implored the Mayor of Bangem, Nguti and Tombel Councils to install eco bins and dumping sites in their respective municipalities.
In a communiqué signed by the delegate on February 14, 2024, Ewube stated that these facilities are prerequisites in preparation for the Clean Cities Contest 2024 in the South West Region and in view of maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation within the division.
The delegate also intimated that these eco bins and dumping sites must be installed latest March 31st 2024.
According to Ewube, these guidelines will enable Kupe Muanenguba emerge first position at the Regional level to represent South West at the national level.
The delegate further revealed that an inspection team from his delegation shall visit Bangem, Nguti and Tombel municipalities in the first week of April and reports shall be forwarded to hierarchy.
Speaking to The Ultimate, Ewube said the importance of eco bins and dumpsites cannot be over emphasized. He said in 2023, Tombel missed the first position of the Clean Cities Contest at the regional level because of the absence of these facilities.
Ewube was optimistic that once eco bins and dump sites are rightly installed by councils, it won’t only be a guarantor to victory at Clean Cities Context, but it’s going to improve on the hygiene and sanitation of municipalities.
It should be noted that during council sessions in Bangem, Tombel and Nguti, the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William has always stressed on the necessity of maintaining clean environment within the division. Mungambo instructed the MINHDU delegate to take necessary measures to ensure the cleanliness of various municipalities.
