Widows in Bangem Sub Division have received gifts and words of encouragement from the Director of Women Empowerment and the Family Center, Bangem, Mwene Agnes Senge.
The event took place on February 22, 2024 at the Women Empowerment and Family Center, Bangem.
While celebrating with the widows, Senge said she was motivated to reach out to widows because of passion and emotional attachment to these women.
She narrated that, her mother was a widow and she watched her raise them up single handed in the midst of challenges and difficulties.
“I feel very bad when I see a widow being maltreated in the community. I encourage all widows to stay strong because all hope is not lost.” The Director added.
Senge further encouraged widows that they are not lonely because God is their husband. She told them never to cry or feel bad when people talk low at them. “You should be determined and motivated at all times. Let love lead amongst you all.” The Director pampered.
She announced that her reaching out to widows in Bangem shall be a yearly event.
The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William thanked the Director for celebrating widows. He also encouraged all the windows to stay strong and never feel left out. He told widows to keep on having faith and determination, promising that in the nearest future, another big event will be held for them.
The widows on their part appreciated the Director and the SDO for their words of comfort. They sang and danced ancient ‘makossa’ music as a means to express their gratitude.
“I have been a widow for 21 years now and this is my first time to see us being celebrated. I want to thank the Director of Women Empowerment and the SDO for taking out time to put smiles on our faces, I pray that God continue to bless and keep them safe.” Tabi Rachael, one of the widows disclosed.
Meanwhile, Ngabe Florence also shared her experience as a widow and thanked the director for making them feel like human beings amongst people after a long period of time. She encouraged all widows to stay strong and rely on God for he is their husband.
Also present at the event was the Divisional Officer of Bangem Sub Division, Diarou Saly, the First Assistant SDO, Djaoné Mougium and the Mayor of Bangem Council, Ekungwe Kang Christopher, the Divisional Delegate of Women Empowerment and the Family, MINPROFF Kupe Muanenguba, Ngwene Cecilia Mbolle, Sub Delegate MINPROFF, Bangem, Epumangando Cynthia, amongst others.
