The Mayor of Tombel Council, Ngassa Rose, has presented heavy duty equipment of the council to the public.
The ceremony took place on the 27th of January 2024 at the esplanade of the Tombel Council.
The various equipment include; a tipper, a front end loader, a bulldozer, motorcycles and a generator.
Speaking at the ceremony the mayor disclosed that the equipment pool worth over FCFA 500 million was realized from decentralization funds allocated to the council yearly. “In Tombel Council, we have decided to make good use of the decentralization funds.” Ngassa revealed.
The Mayor also presented the achievement of Tombel Council over the years which include; the construction of classrooms within the municipality, construction of bridges, donation of benches and other education materials to schools and health institutions, maintenance of farm to market roads, support to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, the construction of an ultra-modern council edifice, amongst others.
Meanwhile the Divisional Officer of Tombel Council, Nyam Leonard Njowon appreciated the council for acquiring the heavy duty equipment. He said this will help in the grading of streets, construction and maintenance of farm to market roads within the municipality, thereby alleviating poverty.
Speaking on behalf of the Section President of CPDM Kupe Muanenguba III, Mbulle Valentine, the Vice President, Kome Evaristus Metuge was proud of the strides in acquiring heavy equipment by their CPDM Tombel Council.
He released blessings on the equipment and prayed that the equipment shall serve the municipality effectively.
Other activities at the ceremony include blessings by the clergy, libation by traditional rulers and traditional dances.
Population Reacts
Speaking to The Ultimate, Nnoko Stephen, an inhabitant of Tombel congratulated the council for acquiring heavy duty equipment. He hoped that the equipment will be effectively used for the development of Tombel municipality.
Also, Cynthia Alobwede lauded the council for the equipment pool. However, she stated that it is not enough to buy equipment and showcase for blessings. She said the equipment should be used to make Tombel the cleanest city in Cameroon.
“Let the streets of Tombel municipality be reflective of the presence of heavy duty equipment. Let villages be transformed with the grading of roads and above all, let there be accountability with the use of the equipment.” Alobwede added.
