The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Kupe Muanenguba, Mungambo Ekema William has lamented over the rise in juvenile delinquency irrespective of the multiplicity of new churches in the division.
Mungambo was speaking at the Bangem Council hall on the 18th of January 2024 during the first preparatory meeting for the celebration of the 58th edition of the National Youth Day in Bangem, and the evaluation of the 57th edition of 2023.
He said besides the increasing rate of juvenile delinquency and other misconducts noticed among the youths, churches should play their role in bringing youths to order.
The SDO also pleaded that participants should brainstorm on various ways by which the youths can be imparted positively to address this trend.
Moreover Mungambo advised that instead of focusing on dancing and sporting activities, more emphasis should be laid on sensitizing youths on civic education and the dangers of delinquency.
After the minutes of last year’s National Youth Day celebration in Bangem was read by the Divisional Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Kupe Muanenguba, Ekukolle Eric Ekaney, some recommendations were made.
Amongst the recommendations was the introduction of an exhibition program which will help the youths showcases their gifts, talents and creativity on transformation and other industrial fields.
At the end, the following committees were formed; general coordination committee, mobilization and sensitization committee, finance, sociocultural, match pass, sports, prize award, communication, health, protocol, security, and entertainment committees.
The next preparatory meeting was scheduled for the 31st of January 2024.
