The Presbyterial Secretary for Bakossi North Presbytery and Parish Pastor of Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC Bangem Parish, Rev. Eyakwe Joseph Tata Nangunda, has been commissioned to rejuvenate churches in the presbytery.
This took place recently in Bangem on the occasion of the institution and induction ceremony of the new Presbyterial Secretary.
While inducting Rev Eyakwe, the Constitution Secretary of the PCC, Rev. Bame Samuel Nji, on behalf of the Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba charged him to make the church more viable and enviable.
In his sermon from Esther 4:10 under the theme, “Learn to Pray,” Rev. Bame urged the newly inducted to be prayerful at all times in order to succeed in his mission to the presbytery.
He also enjoined the pastor’s wife, Eyakwe Grace Obase to always pray for her husband rather than chatting on Facebook and WhatsApp.
Rev. Bame also called on Christians to pray for their pastor if they noticed any shortcoming, instead of using social media to degrade him.
Also speaking during the event, the Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe-Muanenguba Mungambo Ekema William told Christians to pray for their pastors and the world at large. However, he lamented that financial fraud has taken over the church and called on Rev. Eyakwe to uphold financial transparency. “Do not be moved by the quick praises which are now being showered on you because they may be distractions.” Mungambo advised.
Meanwhile, Rev. Emmanuel Basam Masok, Secretary Committee of the Ministry of the PCC presented the biography of Rev. Eyakwe who rose from a photographer to a pastor.
He said Rev. Eyakwe was a photographer commonly called JeoTex in Bekondo, Meme Division.
He said Rev Eyakwe answered his call to serve in the vine yard of the Lord in 2002 when he passed the entrance into the Presbyterian Theological Seminary Kumba.
Rev. Masok disclosed that the newly inducted has served the church in different capacities notably; as Presbyterial Secretary for Bakossi South Presbytery and Parish Pastor of Tombel Town Parish in 2017.
He said Rev. Eyakwe has now been called to serve the Bakossi North Presbytery as Presbyterial Secretary and Parish Pastor of Bangem.
Speaking at the end of the ceremony, Rev. Eyakwe expressed joy at the mammoth crowd that accompanied him to his new office. “I am on a mission to this presbytery. I call on all Christians in the presbytery to cooperate with their pastors in making Bakossi North a place to be. We have resolved to take the presbytery to another level by the grace of God.” Rev. Eyakwe added.
Also, the Parish Chairman of PC Bangem, Njabe Cletus Etube was happy for a successful induction ceremony. He noted that the appointment of Rev. Eyakwe to the Bakossi North is timely to take churches in Bakossi North to the crown of sustainable and spiritual development.
According to him, with Rev. Eyakwe, developmental projects like the Presbyterian Health Center Bangem shall be revived.
