Militants and sympathizers of the Cameroon’s People Democratic Movement, CPDM Nninong I, II, III and IV, Kupe Muanenguba I Section, have been sensitized on their role in the era of decentralization.
This took place during a joint sub-section conference of militants of Nninong I, II, III and IV Sub Sections in Muebah village, November 5, 2023 under the theme, “Effective Decentralization, A Veritable Tool for Vision 2035 of H.E. Paul Biya.”
In his keynote presentation on, “The Role of Communities in Local Governance within the Context of Decentralization,” by H.M Nkwelle II Peter Atabe, YCPDM Section President Kupe Muanenguba I, he said the local community has a vital role to play in the era of decentralization.
Atabe said Cameroon is currently practicing administrative decentralization which brings a number of benefits to the local population. He educated that, people in local communities like Nninong clan, are to generate projects, forward to the council for execution. He said by doing so, they will be solving their own problems.
The YCPDM Section President encouraged Nninong people to attend town meetings, council sessions and know the budget voted each year by their council. He said this will enable them follow up and question the execution of projects within their municipalities and report to the mayor or the administration.
According to Atabe, the power of the government is in the hands of the local population. He said they should take advantage of decentralization and elect the right representatives to talk on their behalf during council sessions.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of Nninong Sub Section Presidents, Akule Akale Ransom Sone, CPDM Sub Section President Nninong III, expressed gratitude for the massive turn out of militants. He told them to effectively practice lessons learnt from the presentation of the YCPDM Section President.
Akale thanked the section for their financial support and for sending a delegation to be part of them. He said it is important for militants to constantly come together to reflect on party activities and chat a way forward for the growth of the party.
Earlier, the 1st Deputy Mayor of Bangem Council, Enongene Epie Manga welcomed everybody to the conference, and called on the militants to stay glued to the ideals of the party. He said it is only through the party that they will continuously enjoy the development of their sub division.
Also, the host Sub Section President of Nninong I, Ekine Ngole Sone expressed joy that their conference is becoming a yearly event. He called on all the militants to be united and to start inscribing their names in the electoral register for victory to the CPDM in subsequent elections.
The Representative of the CPDM Section President of Kupe Muanenguba I, Emade Ajang Christina, WCPDM Section President, was happy to be at her base to represent party hierarchy. She said Nninong is setting an example that should be emulated by other sub sections. She said bringing militants together in a sector conference is educative and helps the party to be stronger at the base.
Also present was the Sub Section President of Nninong II, Ngwesse Joseph Kolle and the Sub Section President of Nninong IV, Ndene Francis. Traditional dances and choral singing animated the day.
