Many people are afraid of Nguti because of security challenges. What words do you have for them?
With regards to security, Nguti itself is calm. There are a few areas with occasional disturbances along the road leading to Nguti. We believe that, with God being on our side, and with some efforts put in by the security forces, all will be fine.
So far, what are the peace efforts you have negotiated for the sub division?
In the present circumstances, peace efforts are a collective commodity coming from all the quarters. Notwithstanding, I have been supporting activities that youths are engaged in, educating them to abandon arms and to become involved in gainful activities. Together with the elite, we have organized holiday programs (football and classes) to keep the youths occupied during holidays. I have also been providing didactic materials to encourage school resumption.
What words do you have for the youths of Nguti?
The youths of Nguti are a dynamic group. Together we should work for the growth of the nation. They can do this only by developing themselves. I am available to help them in whatever way that is possible and in whatever domain.
Any words to women of your constituency as they celebrate Rural Women’s Day?
Rural women remain our mothers and they are the source of our livelihood through their activities. As their MP, I have sent some farming tools, planting seeds and fertilizers to boost their farming. I have always sent them food, particularly during the planting season.
What are the activities you have carried out to impact your constituency?
A Parliamentarian is a lobbyist. In this respect, I have lobbied for many development projects ranging from road rehabilitation, installation of pipe borne water, wells (most of these projects have been sent to be executed by the council). I have assisted in the rehabilitation of water catchments in some localities. I have supplied solar panels to some villages and heath centers since most areas in Nguti sub division don’t have electricity and these health centers at times need to store vaccines.
I have been very supportive to school resumptions. For three years running, I have supplied didactic materials to pupils to assuage the burden of schooling on parents, particularly with the reigning poverty due to the ongoing crises. I have supplied some secondary schools in the sub division with complete desktops and printers. I have constructed a toilet and handed it over to a school. I have supported open day activities in Government Technical College, Nguti.
In the health domain, I supplied the Babubock Health Center and the Nguti District Hospital with mattresses. Gave money for the construction of iron doors at Nguti District Hospital. I also sent roofing sheets to Talangaye market, Government School Lebock, Government School Njunye, that was destroyed by wind. I gave financial assistance to repair damaged classrooms of more than three schools.
Besides, I gave assistance to some students of the sub division in professional schools, advocate for our children to be recruited as teachers, sponsored the registration formalities of Nguti children in the Customs Clearance School, Yaounde.
Also, I supplied Materials to fight COVID-19 pandemic during that era to all the 54 villages in Nguti Sub Division. I gave financial assistance to some communities to support the construction of their roads. Bought materials to help some communities that were rehabilitating their roads, amongst others.
What plans do you have for Nguti constituency in terms of disenclavement?
Nguti sub division is one of the most enclaved sub divisions in Cameroon. Since I became a Parliamentarian, I have been spending sleepless nights on this matter. I have worked with Mr Okie Johnson Ndoh to write out projects particularly on the Kokobuma-Ntale-Babubock Stretch of road. I personally followed up the construction of the Mwangwekan-Nzobi road.
Besides, I sponsored the project write up for the construction of a road to disenclave the Banyue areas. I financially assisted the Banyue people in their attempt at constructing their road. I advocated at the level of the minister for this road to be financed under the Nguti council.
I have lobbied and just got approvals for two roads. The first will lead to the disenclavement of the entire Lower Mbo area, passing through Mbetta in Nkongho Mbeng, and the second being phase two and three of the Ngongo-Njungo road.
I am fighting hard to disclave Nguti Sub Division.
Any Last Word?
My last word is that my people in Nguti should have trust in me and continue to pray so that God should grant me wisdom and divine favour whenever I am in offices advocating for projects for Nguti constituency.
