The Divisional Delegate of Tourism and Leisure, Kupe Muanenguba, Louise Yong Tambia, has unveiled the touristic potentials of Kupe Muanenguba Division.
Tambia was speaking in Tombel on the 7th of October 2023 during the celebration of the 44th edition of World Tourism Day under the theme, “Tourism and Green Investment.”
He said being the maiden edition of the celebration in Kupe Muanenguba, all actors must be committed in enhancing the development of the tourism sector and make it a reality.
According to the delegate, Kupe Muanenguba has a lot of potentials that needs to be exploited for the interest of the community and the development of the division in general.
Tambia mentioned the Muanenguba Twin Lakes, the Bakossi National Park, the Bayang Mbo National Park, the Ndibesi Hot Spring, Lake Bemin, Mount Kupe, the Rock Masses in Nyasoso, amongst others.
He reiterated that Tombel being the economic hub of the division, was chosen for the celebration. He said the yearly jamboree shall be rotating within the three sub divisions of Kupe Muanenguba.
Tambia concluded by installing the executive bureau of Tombel Tourism and Leisure Stakeholders Association, TOLSA, with Ngomebong Ernest as president.
The First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Kupe Muanenguba, Djaoné Mouigoum congratulated tourism stakeholders in the division for organising the maiden edition of World Tourism Day.
He said the theme of the celebration is a reminder for all actors of the sector to maintain green environment for tourism to strive in the division.
Djaoné also cautioned stakeholders to stay within the ambits of the law because Cameron is a state of law. He emphasized that the state is a guarantor of peace and it is only by adhering to the laws of the state that they can foster the development of the tourism sector.
He assured that the administration of Kupe Muanenguba shall solidly support all their activities.
The newly elected president of TOLSA, Ngomebong thanked his peers for the confidence bestowed on him to pilot the association. He told them to be steadfast and contribute earnestly towards the growth of tourism and leisure in the municipality of Tombel.
Together with members of the Nyasoso Echo Tourism Board, they assured the Divisional Delegate of their unflinching support to the state and the need to galvanize efforts towards the realization of their vision.
In a paper presentation by Ngole Ofman, member of the Nyasoso Echo Tourism Board on “The Importance of Tourism in the Growth of a People,” he said the economy of the state depends on tourism.
The first phase of the celebration was marked by a sport walk from the Government School Field Tombel, through Tradex Filling Station, to the field. This was followed by a round table conference during which the itinerary of the celebration was disclosed.
The evening was spiced up with a grand gala.
