Widows of Tiko, Mutengene and Likomba are in immense joy as they have once again been visited by the Husband to the widows, Honorable Fritz Ngeka Etoke on the occasion of the International Widow’s day which coincides with the birthday of the philanthropist.
The widows of the Tiko- Mutengene area received bags of rice, scholarship for their children and financial support which will enable them sustain themselves and their families.
The privileged women also got free screening on sugar levels, for diabetes patients, and blood pressure from the specialized medical team of “Molua Pharmacy”.The health team further offered some counseling and supplements to help the widows manage their health.
The occasion which is celebrated on the 23rd of June annually, involved other dignitaries like the Deputy Mayor of Tiko council, Sub-Delegate of Women Empowerment and the family as well as forces of law and order.
In addition to the many tokens received by the widows, the elated women were assured of more support including; trainings on better agricultural techniques, free birth certificates in the month of August, mass marriages for children of widows who are leaving together illegally and the freedom to visit the Gender affairs office in case of any gender-affiliated problems.
