The Minister of Public Health Manaouda Malachi took advantage of the 24th session of the Board of Directors of Nurse Training Schools to warn them on June 15.
In view of the state of unsanitary conditions in some schools for the training of health workers, nurses, midwives, Manaouda Malachie asks the promoters of these professional institutions to meet the standards. He promises to track down unhealthy schools, which will later be closed.
“We will make a systematic assessment and that all schools that have installed learners in infrastructures or in environments that are not conducive to learning (…) will be closed,” said the Minister of Public Health in the opening speech he gave during this three-day working session.
Manaouda Malachi does not intend to stop there. Because, he promises to wage war on all other bad practises that plague the training of medical and health personnel in Cameroon. This is why he also promises to close all schools that employ “poor teachers to be able to communicate knowledge to learners”. To all those responsible for training schools participating in this 24th session of the Governing Board, the Minister of Public Health recommends compliance with the standards in force: “I ask you to avoid these regrettable practices and to make every effort to remedy these shortcomings”.
In addition to unhealthy environments and the employment of unqualified teachers, Manaouda Malachie prohibits enrollment on the margins of regulations, non-compliance with hourly quotas and tuition rates without forgetting the coinage of internships. All things that are to be banned, according to the Minister. It is probably for this reason that this session is held under the theme: “To harmonize and improve the quality of teaching”.
