The rector of the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) has, on Tuesday 25th April, 2023, published a finalization after the media release of Claude Abe, a professor at this university.
Since April 16, Claude Abe, professor of sociology at lUCAC, has been at the Centre of a strong controversy. Speaking on the show “Club d’élites” broadcast on the Vision 4 television channel, he made remarks deemed tribalistic by part of public opinion.
“The Republic will have to go through land reform. People must each return home and republican decisions must be made in this direction. We must not try to use the Republic by saying “we are Republicans” but behind it, we have a project to invade each other and replace them in their village”. These remarks by Claude Abé, permanent professor at the Catholic University of Central Africa, have not ended up arousing strong reactions.
Following these remarks, “The Rector informs public opinion that the Catholic University of Africa
Centrale is completely dissociating itself” from its media release. And “associates with public authorities and members of civil society to condemn any hateful and trialist speech”
