The Divisional Officer, DO of Bangem Sub Division, Dairou Saly has promised hard times to absentee teachers from schools within the subdivision.

In his address, the DO emphasized that most government teachers within the subdivision have abandoned their schools for jobs in private schools.
He lamented that irrespective of the fact that government pays them monthly, they don’t care about students and pupils placed under their care.
Dairou warned that any absentee teacher will be served a querry letter, leading to the suspension of his salary.
Mondays School Boycott
The Divisional Officer also frowned at the altitude of parents in the sub divison restraining their children from going to school on Mondays.
He said Bangem Subdivision is very peaceful and there’s no ghost chasing anyone from coming to school.
Dairou emphasized that all pupils and students must be at their school campuses on Mondays, and in their school uniform as well.
The DO also told traditional rulers to help the administration by reporting recalcitrant teachers in their villages. “When the salary of one teacher will be suspended, everyone will adjust”. He cautioned.
In the interactive session, chiefs pleaded with the DO that Monday school resumption should be a gradual process because some villages are still suffering from insecurity.
The Chief of Elambeng village said most parents prefer to send their children to private schools than public schools because of the lack of teachers in public schools.
The Inspector of Basic Education, Bangem, Kanzelle Amate Elone said the rate of school boycott by teachers is worst in the suburb, causing most parents to transfer their children from schools in villages to towns.
Elections
In a separate meeting with chiefs of the subdivision, Dairou said it is incumbent on them to ensure that their subjects vote on elections day. He said some security measures will be taken at polling stations in Muambong and Mbwogmut clans.
After reading the names of the 62 polling stations in the subdivision, the ELECAM representative, Frtiz Ndille said some polling stations have been changed, while others have been merged for security reasons. He called on the population to pass at their offices in Bangem to collect their voter’s card.

At the end of the meeting, DO Dairou enjoined all chiefs to submit a list of all chiefs that have ruled their villages, a list of kingmakers, the families they represent, and their signatures.

The DO also instructed them to ensure that vigilante groups are functional in all villages. The first Thursday of every month was adopted for clean-up campaign within the sub division.
