The Divisional Delegate of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, MINEPDED, Kupe Muanenguba, Epie Mary Ekane has disclosed that her niche is to build the capacity of women on the sustainable management of natural resources.
Speaking to The Ultimate, she revealed that as delegate for nine years, she has empowered women on the conservation of biodiversity, waste management, pollution and harmful substances, protection of land, air and water resources, sustainable farm practices, establishment of tree nurseries and tree planting, effects of single use plastics and ban of plastics less than 60 micros, amongst others.
Ekane said as a career women, effective time management in her daily routine helps her balance family and work life. “I am very flexible and determined. I establish priorities and honour them. My strength comes from the Lord whose grace is sufficient for me”. She disclosed.
The delegate cautioned women that it is time to step out from their comfort zones, believe in themselves, trust their abilities and skills and put them to use.
She also cautioned women to celebrate responsibly and shun excesses on Women’s Day.
Ekane holds a Master Degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. She is the Project Site Manager of “Support to the Nagoya Protocol Implementation on Biodiversity Value Chain for Small Holders in the South West Region”.
Married and a mother of three, the delegate hails from Elum-Nninong, Bangem Sub Division.
