The Centre for Agroecological Promotion, CAEP, Tombel, together with partners is mobilizing to train farmers on reviving traditional agricultural practices that enhance food sovereignty and security.
The three day workshop has been scheduled from the 8th to the 10th of February 2024 in Tombel, organized by CAEP.
Besides, the workshop also aimed at developing strategies of scaling up agroecology and the protection of biodiversity.
CAEP the lead collaborative partner in the project implementation, has as role to improve agroecology learning farm and provides capacity building to other partners on seeds, agroecology techniques, processing and marketing.
Meanwhile SYNAPARCAM Women Wing From Mbonjoh Souza, Littoral Region, is expected to establish a pilot integrated food-tree farm.
Also, Unique Farmers Cooperative from Tombel shall focus on mainstream agroecology in cocoa production on current EUDR related cocoa talk.
Wola Multipurpose Farmers Common Initiative Group, CIG from Muaku, Bangem Sub Division is expected to setup integrated bee- food/cash crop farms.
Consultants and experts on agroecology, advocacy and marketing will come from the Institute for Research and Agro Industrial Technologies IRAD, and the Support Service for Local Development Initiatives in Cameroon, SAILD, an organization that carry out advocacy on peasant rights in Cameroon respectively.
Speaking to The Ultimate, the Chief Executive Officer of CAEP, Eku Emmanuel disclosed that preparations are hitting up ahead of the workshop. He said they are expecting twenty five delegates from their collaborative team for the workshop.
Eku revealed that delegates are expected in Tombel on the 7th of February 2024. He said from the 8th to the 9th of February, the workshop proper shall take place at the Tombel Community Hall, while the 10th of February has been reserved for field visit and departure.
The workshop is organized under the theme; “Scaling up Agroecology; Reviving Traditional Agricultural Practices that Enhance Food Sovereignty, Food Security, and Protects Biodiversity.”
