A young man from the Okyong Mile 4 village of Mamfe, in the Southwest region, whose name is Ndoh Divine Ekin AKA Adamawa, was shot dead on Monday, May 29, 2023 by government forces.
The inhabitants of Mile 2 in Mamfe, had repeatedly complained about the young man’s attacks. These attacks forced them to flee their homes.
According to some residents of the region, the man attacked them at night to ask them for help under the threat of a weapon, while telling them that he was a separatist fighter.
The mayor of Mamfe, Robertson Tabenchong Ashu, who went to the scene very early, said: “We preached every day for these people to lay down their weapons. It is only one of them that continues to disturb the peace of the population. Enough is enough!. We will continue to bury them like that. I have already made the decision not to bury any of them anymore. The family or village from which the person comes will be forced to bury the body”.
The mayor also said that Ndoh Divine was a former inmate who had spent more than 15 years in prison and that he was the last surviving boy of his deceased father and mother. He was buried by the inhabitants of Okyong Mile 4 who identified the body.
