Following numerous denunciations and a complaint by a lady against usurpers who presented themselves at her home as ENEO agents, the elements of the Judicial Research Service of the First Gendarmerie Region opened an investigation.
Thus, on May 22, 2023, the fine limiers arrested a fake ENEO agent in the act of a scam in the Mvan neighbourhood. Its exploitation led not only to the dismantling of a network of eight fake ENEO agents, but also to the arrest of four of his accomplices.
The search of their various homes made it possible to seize important equipment including ENEO work clothes, shoes, metres, electrical cables, circuit breakers, clamps, ENEO professional badges and climbers. To this are added counterfeit administrative documents, namely cut-off notices, cut-off orders, mission orders, commitment sheets, convocations, Eneo invoices, etc.
The suspects, some of whom have been licensed to ENEO’s subcontracting companies for years, are accused of theft of electrical cables and equipment belonging to ENEO, traffic of Eneo metres, ursupation of the title of ENEO technician, forgery in public and authentic writing, burglary, rape and assault.
Indeed, these individuals who had been raging for a few months in the city of Yaoundé precisely in the Mvan, Nsam, Efoulan, Dakar, Odza, Tropicana and Ekoudoum neighbourhoods, deceived the vigilance of users in homes through schemes such as: the distribution of false invoices and Eneo cut-off notices or the verification of prepaid metres to inspect the They also threatened customers not up to date with electrical energy suspension for a sum of 20000 or 30000 FCFA.
The respondents have all confessed and will be made available to justice in the coming days.
The investigation opened continues in the First Region of the Gendarmerie in search of the three other accomplices on the run.”
